Airbnb treat: Mid century house in Bridlington

I spent the weekend in the most beautiful Mid Century house in Bridlington as a treat with Rob for being together for three years.
It is such a nice house inside and out with amazing views of the sea just a stone throw away!

Colours May Vary treats and Mid Century loveliness

Mid Century magazine & The printed peanut cat pin <3

Yesterday I went to Colours May Vary for my usual magazine fix (Frankie & Oh Comely). But this time me and Rob noticed the 'Mid Century' guide, and much to our surprise we found pictures of the lovely house we will be staying in as a treat for being together for three years. You can find it on Airbnb, but I am sure I will take lots of photos and show you.

Children's Book Illustration

Hello!
What a strange week in the world it has been.. Something that Steven Malk, a Literary Agent at writers house tweeted recently stayed with me as he said being a children's book maker is more important than ever right now, and to keep bringing books in the world that bring joy, love and comfort to children. I found this quite fitting as I have been thinking a lot about going into children's book illustration once I graduate next year, as I love the idea of my work bringing happiness to kids, it would make it all worthwhile.
I find myself spending hours looking through children's books in Waterstones, admiring all of the illustrations and stories in there, and keep thinking how wonderful it would be to see children reading books i've illustrated; and seeing them smile from this. This is definitely a goal of mine. Next steps after university for me are to contact children's book agencies.
But for now, here are some pictures of lovely illustrations from a recent Waterstones trip. Theres something about books too, that you can never have enough. Especially if you are a hoarder like me!

LPF @ Corn Exchange

Hello! I  am finally relaxing with a cup of tea after a long weekend  selling my prints at Leeds Print Fair.

It was really nice to be in good company of some great print makers too, such as Amy HodkinSam GroomJames Green, The Lost Fox and more! It was also super lovely seeing how my work made many people smile, and hearing where my work will end up also.
My lino printed christmas cards proved quite popular, yay! I still have quite a few left so I plan on making an online shop soon, keep an eye out in the next few weeks for it! I am also looking into more Christmassy fairs so if anyone knows of any local ones to Leeds/Yorkshire do let me know :)

My shared stall with Amy Hodkin & Millie Empson

I hope you all had a nice weekend.

Manchester

Fred Aldous window display for upcoming print fair 'Unwrapped' on the 19th November
Today me and Rob took a trip to Manchester mainly to visit the Craft and Design Centre for 'dissertation research' however it turned out that most of the artists studios inside are shut on Sundays (of course they are, as they are open every other day of the week... :( ) so we had a wander around the Northern Quarter

Leeds Print Fair

Hello! I am excited to share that I will be sharing a stand at Leeds Print Fair this year with fellow LCA Surface Pattern students Amy Hodkin and Millie Empson. It is a two day event this year from the 5th and 6th of November, so the full bonfire weekend.
I started to print some work last week, and at the fair I will be selling some Lino printed gift wrap and cards, as well as A5 prints and A6 digitally printed cards.
It will be lovely to see some old and new faces there, it was so fun to visit the fair last year, but I am super excited/nervous to be selling at it this year! Eeeek :)

Snippet of the Lino-printed gift wrap. I have printed Red versions and white versions!

The Hepworth, Wakefield

A couple of weeks ago me and Rob took a visit to The Hepworth in Wakefield for *dissertation research* (still love using this as an excuse!) but mainly to see the David Storey exhibition as I have heard and seen a lot of good things about it, and also just to have a wander round and for some general inspiration!

Rad Studio

On Tuesday I spoke a bit about the wonderful RADSTUDIO! shop in Saltaire, but felt that this shop deserves its own post (I wrote about them from my last visit in October here) as I took A LOT of photos.

Everything in there is so lovely and super dreamy. Their stock ranges from Corby Tinderstick prints, Meri Meri bunting, Bobo Choses kids clothes, to plants, arm chairs, lights and cushions as well as stationery, fragrances and books. It is the cutest shop and I am glad I popped in and treated myself (to this Meri Meri bunting, I <3 it!).
