A couple of weeks ago me and Rob took a visit to The Hepworth in Wakefield for *dissertation research* (still love using this as an excuse!) but mainly to see the David Storey exhibition as I have heard and seen a lot of good things about it, and also just to have a wander round and for some general inspiration!

"This exhibition celebrates the Tim Sayer Bequest, one of the most significant gifts to Wakefield by a private collector. It will bring together approximately 100 works drawn from Tim Sayer’s collection, which he has passionately built up over the last five decades, including works by artists such as Alexander Calder, Prunella Clough, Sonia Delaunay, Naum Gabo, David Hockney, Paul Nash, Gerhard Richter and Bridget Riley among many others."
Everything about this exhibition was inspiring, from the colours and textures to the tiny Lino Prints and sculptures, there was so much to look at by various artists!

"This exhibition presents hundreds of drawings made by Storey during an intense period of creativity between 2006 and 2012. Extracted from notebooks and sketchbooks, the drawings of shifting forms, patterns and colours accumulate into a body of work that, like his literary characters, explore dark and brooding elements of the human psyche."
I adored how abstract his drawings and paintings were, and how many of them there were. They made absolutely no sense individually but as a collective they look wonderful separated from Monochrome to colours. Truly inspiring! It makes me want to draw moving things and forms something which previously I have found quite daunting..

After admiring the lovely work of Storey we then headed to the gallery shop and spotted some work from Scouted Editions. My favourite piece being the cactus tray with the textures and the notebook with a big yellow flower on <3
We also hopped on a bus to Yorkshire Sculpture Park after this to visit the Editions and Objects exhibition by St Judes (which was AMAZING) watch out for a post about that this week!
