Hannah Bowen for Scion

Hannah's graduate collection
A few weeks ago we had Hannah Bowen, a LCA graduate of 2013, who now works and designs for Scion a Harlequin brand, come in for a guest lecture.

Hannah's graduate collection

She gained this amazing dream job through winning the New Designers Harlequin prize where she completed 2 weeks and then 3 months work experience with them and stayed on from there.
Her work is so unique with a Whimsical style where she makes creatures and characters using Lino cutting. This is her signature technique and unique selling point, and she recommended for us to stick to what we know for 3rd year.

One main thing I took from her inspiring lecture was to always be positive and happy as it does get you places. Whether that be on a work placement or even just at university. We all need to be more positive (especially me at the moment) and grateful for every opportunity we get, even if it is just going for an interview for a work placement, as you don't know who you will meet!
She also recommended not to get caught up on what everyone else is doing, as we are all different and work in varied ways.

It was lovely to meet and chat with her afterwards. I find her slow crafting style super inspiring and I can't wait to see more collections she makes for Scion!
